Dr. Ian Stewart | Head of Leadership and Organisational Performance

Before joining Kaplan in 2015, Ian spent over 20 years lecturing in Leadership and related subjects at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, as well as teaching for the Open University. He has also taught with the Open University and was a visiting Lecturer with CASS Business School.

He has designed and delivered senior leadership and executive programmes for a range of clients. Clients mostly, but not exclusively, from the financial services, including Legal and General, AON, Barclays, RBS, Centrica, British Sugar, and the Financial Conduct Authority. He specialises in using leadership development and strategic thinking to drive organisational change and performance.

As Head of Applied Behavioural Science at Sandhurst, a department he established in 2007, Ian trained military officers and senior officials in over 20 countries, including Sierra Leone, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Colombia, South Africa and Indonesia.

As well as spending over 20 years lecturing in Leadership and related subjects at Sandhurst, Ian worked in strategic policy and planning in Whitehall for the Ministry of Defence between 2002 and 2007. As Head of MOD’s Media Training, he helped establish the Defence Media Operations Centre, developing measures of reputation for the MOD as well as developing plans to communicate key initiatives and writing speeches for senior officials to order.

BA Hons (First Class Hons), M.Litt. (Linguistics), PhD (Communication and Influence).
