What really differentiates a great leader? The purpose of this certificate program is to provide a thorough and practical understanding of Emotional Intelligence (EQ), discuss how EQ is essential to the demonstration of effective leadership, personalize the topic of EQ with an individual assessment of EQ competencies, highlight a variety of examples of EQ best practices and missteps, and create opportunities for planning and practical application.

This course is designed for individuals who have transitioned into leading others or who have been leading others for awhile and would like more opportunity to better understand and grow their leadership skills.
Participants successfully completing the work within the given course timeframe and attending all in-class sessions will be eligible to receive a Wake Forest University Certificate. We invite you to contact us with your questions or for more detail.
Participants must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent. A TOEFL examination for non-native speakers of English is not required but students are expected to read, write and comprehend English at the graduate level to fully participate in and gain from the program. Any requests for exceptions to these requirements must be made in writing to the program director at WakeCERT@nullwfu.edu.
Becky Edmunds. Becky has over 30 years of experience providing diverse organizations with comprehensive organizational development services, including executive coaching, talent management, team and leadership development and strategic change management. Becky works to custom-design programs that support and align business strategy and enhance senior team interaction. She has spent a large part of her career assisting organizations in creating and implementing systemic and comprehensive leadership development initiatives to enhance and develop leadership at all levels.
Becky’s executive coaching and leadership development experience is extensive. She has consistently coached “C” suite, leaders to expand their impact, enhance their self-awareness and maximize productivity. Becky has expertise working with in-tact teams in domestic and global organizations.
Becky completed post-graduate coursework in counseling and adult development from the University of Maryland, accompanied by a Master’s in counselor education from The University of Virginia.
Sara King. Sara has served thousands of executives in Fortune 500 companies during her 30 years in leadership development business, government agencies, not for profit organizations, and educational institutions. She has been an executive in a global business, a business owner, an executive coach, an author, and a consultant. Whether she is speaking to a large executive group, working with top teams, or working one on one, Sara is devoted to helping leaders identify the critical issues and build a plan for future effectiveness. Sara is currently Principal of Optimum Insights, Inc., a private consulting firm devoted to the study and practice of leadership development. She spent 23 years at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), a top-ranked, global provider of leadership education and research and ran the Center’s largest global business unit with a team of managers located in Asia, Europe and three locations in the United States. She served as a member of CCL’s Breaking the Glass Ceiling research team, which studied the career development of executive women in Fortune 100 firms and produced the 1987 book, Breaking the Glass Ceiling: Can Women Reach the Top of America’s Largest Corporations? She is a co-author on the book, Discovering the Leader in You which highlights the importance of a conscious decision to lead and offers a framework for developing leadership vision, values and skills.
Sara earned a B. A. in English from Wake Forest University and an M.S. in Higher Education Administration from Cornell University.
All classes are held on Tuesday from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.

Parking is available at no charge in the Wake Forest University Charlotte Center Parking Garage located on 5th Street and adjacent to the Wake Forest Charlotte Center. (You may enter the garage from either 5th or 6th Street.) Please bring your parking ticket in for validation.
